Course Content

Module 1: Ideas and opportunities
Getting to know the EntreComp Introduction to the EntreComp In June 2016, the EC published the EntreComp, a comprehensive reference framework, to define and describe entrepreneurship as a key competence for all citizens. It is not a curriculum, nor it prescribes a programme content but a free, open, intuitive and flexible tool that can be used to develop, assess, design and certify training and learning paths, school-work alternation, professional career, start-up start-up as well as social and professional policies. The EntreComp framework identifies 3 microareas, Ideas & Opportunities, Resources, Into Action, which have been labelled to stress entrepreneurship competence as the ability to transform ideas and opportunities into action by mobilising resources. The 15 competences make up the building blocks of the entrepreneurship as a competence for all citizens. Each one is accompanied by a hint to put the competence into practice and a descriptor, which breaks it down into its core aspects. The Entrepreneurship Competence Framework includes a comprehensive set of skills, attitudes and values for the entrepreneurial mindset required to overcome our current societal challenges. The EntreComp tool analyses three competence areas: ‘Ideas and Opportunities’, ‘Resources’ and ‘Into Action’ and each one of them presents five competences which are important to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. EntreComp’s definition of entrepreneurship embraces various and different types of entrepreneurship, which encourages the creation of cultural, social or economic value. In fact, entrepreneurship is considered as a multidimensional competence since it refers to the ability to transform “ideas and opportunities” “into action” by “mobilising resources”. In particular, all above-mentioned sections are intertwined, as well as the 15 competences are interrelated and interconnected and should be treated as part of a whole.

Module 2: Believing in yourself to keep growing and developing.
Being able to identify and describe your needs, wants, interests and goals as well as your strengths and weaknesses will enable you to believe in yourself and keep developing towards your professional goals and achievements. As stated by Debbie Ford, “Self-awareness is the ability to take an honest look at your life without any attachments to it being right or wrong, good or bad”, whilst self-efficacy is about how much you believe in your own abilities to meet challenges for instance or complete a task successfully. This activity will support you in reflecting on your needs, aspirations and wants in the short, medium and long terms as a necessary preliminary step to become aware of your current strengths and weaknesses, leading you to believe in your ability to influence the course of events, despite uncertainty, setbacks and temporary failures. After that, take some time to think about What are some of the big goals you want (or ever wanted) to achieve in life such as: saving lives, making lots of money, being a movie star, living in a big house, saving the Earth, becoming president... You can write it on your own and keep it private or, if you feel like sharing your thoughts with your peers, you can post it on the forum.

Module 3.1 Prioritising to set meaningful and achievable goals
As a very first step to be able to set meaningful goals, you need to have a meaningful overview of personal, professional and social objectives in your life and to clarify priorities by: Looking at different life categories and identify which areas are doing well Identifying which areas you need to allocate more attention to by avoiding to focus all your time and energy on a single area and neglecting other important parts This activity will help you brainstorm meaningful goal ideas in key areas of your life and identify and avoid the things that either distract you or drain you of time and energy or don’t help you achieve your goals. We'll employ two useful tools, the "Wheel of life" and the “Not-to-do list”, which will help you grow in all areas of your life and set meaningful goals. Wheel of life This is a powerful personal self-reflection tool to visualise how balanced your life is in different areas of your life and how satisfied and fulfilled you are in each life area. Take note of how fulfilled you are in each area and acknowledge your strengths and areas you are happy about and then look at your completed wheel, focus on its shape and think and brainstorm about goals for your own life. How can you create a more evenly shaped wheel? Which life areas require more of your focus right now? Now, you can set goals in the areas that are not so fulfilled, in order to increase your overall life balance. Not-to-do-list Having a “not-to-do list” is often one of the best ways to prioritise what is essential as it helps make sure you get the most important tasks completed first. Starting from your wheel, reflect upon one of your main objectives, write it down and think about what may prevent you from reaching out that goal.
